Dialectical behavioral therapy
DBT is my long term specialty and my greatest passion. Although I no longer offer a comprehensive DBT program, I continue to work with clients on a variety of ways to use DBT for more than emotion regulation. Here are some niche DBT intensive topics:
DBT as a Lifestyle
Joint DBT Skills Coaching for Couples and Parents
Using DBT to Navigate Alternative Relationship Structures
DBT for Chronic Illness
DBT for Mixed Race Adults, Interracial Couples and Multicultural Families
I also offer a DBT Kickstart Intensive program for individuals, couples and families who are waiting to join a comprehensive DBT program. This includes customized intensive coaching sessions for individuals, couples and families to kickstart your DBT journey in the meantime. The first session includes a DBT orientation and an intake to set prioritized goals and foundational mindfulness skills. Future sessions teach multiple skills tailored to address prioritized goals first. Sessions are booked as needed rather than on a fixed weekly schedule.
Anxious/Avoidant Couples
The anxious/avoidant cycle is a very common relationship dynamic. Many of these couples find themselves stuck in weekly couples counseling because the cycle is not resolved in one session before it repeats into the next session. In an intensive, I can orient you to the cycle and still have time to use what you’ve learned to work through cycles to resolution and build in some practice. Upon leaving an intensive, you will have not only a new understanding of your relationship but also several things to try rather than just food for thought while the relationship continues to pile on conflict and resentment between typical couples counseling sessions.
Family/Friends for Complex PTSD
Loving someone with Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) can be complicated. You have so much compassion and empathy for their history but still struggle to understand their behaviors and navigate your relationship with love and acceptance. Chronic abuse, neglect, or invalidation can lead to black-and-white thinking, rigid survival rules, emotional dysregulation, and responses ranging from explosiveness to numbness and avoidance. Adult children of immigrants may face additional challenges navigating conflicting cultural expectations and chronic invalidation.
You may have read countless self-help books and consumed content to better understand your loved one, yet still struggle to apply what you’ve learned to your unique situation. Through an intensive program, I’ll help you understand your loved one’s inner world and navigate your relationship with greater compassion and loving kindness.
Family/Friends for Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is often misunderstood, making it difficult to find the right support. People with BPD can experience emotional pain with extraordinary intensity, yet also offer profound empathy, love, and affection. Relationships can feel deeply rewarding but emotionally challenging with incredibly high highs and low lows that might make you wonder how to continue.
While resources for people with BPD are growing, support for family and friends remains limited. My intensive program teaches you how to navigate these relationship complexities with greater compassion, connection, and stability.
Family Estrangement and reconciliation
Children of immigrants often navigate unique cultural and family dynamics that can contribute to C-PTSD and influence adult relationships. I use specialized approaches to address family conflict and reduce the risk of estrangement. Intensives can involve the adult child alone or the entire family, with goals ranging from reconciliation to accepting estrangement.
BDSM/kink and non-monogamy
Navigating BDSM/kink and non-monogamy involves complex intersections of power dynamics, consent, stigma, and trauma. Through a nonjudgmental, sex therapy lens, I help couples and polycules navigate kink, open relationships, and relationship structural transitions with attention to consent, power, and mental health.
